COLLEEN M. COOGAN
Colleen is a Partner and CEO of the WoodHill Group, LLC.
Colleen is a CPA and Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. Colleen began consulting in the private sector in 1986. After being asked to make the financial statements more understandable for the board by a supervisor of a small township, she shifted her focus strictly to municipal accounting.
She specializes in designing and streamlining accounting functions and financial reporting for usability and readability. She has worked for the city of Livonia as the Chief Accountant, Contract Controller for Ann Arbor Charter Township and the townships of Salem, Sharon, Augusta and Northfield; and has assisted the City Manager and Council of the city of Walled Lake through a financial crisis that threatened to add Walled Lake to the list of Emergency Manager appointees.
Colleen was also appointed as the first Executive Director for the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association and spent two years successfully developing that role for the association. Colleen has taught a number of classes on internal control and financial statement preparation for the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association, Michigan Association of Assessors, Michigan Association of CPAs, Michigan Library Association, as well as authored an article on budgeting for the Michigan Townships Association.
Colleen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the College of St. Thomas.
